A quantity of plaster will be required to cover the face of the bricks this can only be applied once the mortar holding the bricks has gone off.
Blocking up a fireplace with plasterboard.
Allow it to dry.
The plasterboard will need to be cut correctly so that it fits tightly into the space.
Trace the vent onto the drywall.
Mix up plaster and apply to surface in light coats.
Remember to leave the surface of the air brick exposed.
Measure the fireplace s opening.
A new section of skirting board will be required to finish off the wall after the plaster has gone off.
A ventilation cowl is required to suit the chimney pot.
Continue this process until surface is covered.
Apply it with a plasterer s trowel scraping it over the bricks until they are completely covered.

Using timber battens 50mm x 50mm 2inx2in construct a frame around the inside edge of the opening setting it back slightly to allow for the width of the board.
