The best defense against bats is to block entry into your attic. We are installing 4 mesh galvanized steel hardware cloth on the outside of the gable vent to prevent bats from entering the structure. The bat cone excluder is a great option. When there is no doubt the bats are gone you can remove the funnel and seal the entry with wire and or sealant.

Bat skin secretes an oil that rubs off on the walls of your attic leaving a tell tale sign that you have unwanted guests. If you block up the attic vent then bats can t get into your attic itself.
